198.6 lbs. - 85 FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar)
Things seem to be back on track. I did have another diet caffiene free soda last night. Ive got to cut those out. At any rate, I've thought a bit about it and I'd like to see 193 before August 6th. This is pretty aggressive, but I should be able to do it. Wish me luck. =)
I'm starting to wonder what sort of healing my body needs to go through to be completely cured of diabetes. The way I see it, I have two problems; insulin resistance, and a struggling pancrease. The insulin resistance should cure itself. I've been thinking that from a purely defensive point of view, insulin resistance makes sense for a body that is getting too much sugars/carbs. If you're getting too much, simply adjust yourself so that you don't accept as much. If this is the case, then the body should also be able to reverse the process. I'm not sure how long it takes, but I'm betting once you start getting close to your ideal weight your body will fix itself, assuming there are no other problems getting in the way. There's also the idea from Ms. Somers books that type 2 diabetes happens when the body's cells are already too full of glucose. There's just no room. This too should correct itself once you get close to your ideal weight.
The healing of the pancrease could take some time. Some diabetics will not see this happen at all because their pancrease is incapable of reproducing beta cells. I do not believe this to be the case with me. Actually, there's a good chance that my panrease is putting out a TON of insulin to compensate for my insulin resistance. I wish there was a way I could measure insulin levels as well as BS levels. If anybody knows of a way to do this, I'm all ears.
Anyway, things are progressing wonderfully. Hopefully in about 3 months I will be finished with the hard part of the diet and on to maintenance, which will be quite a bit more enjoyable.
