This is quite a surprise to me. As you can see, it's been some time since I updated this blog. I was still watching my diet, but was not really doing the exercise much. I was also cheating on the diet several times a week. It's tough to stay on a diet. =) Then came the surprse.
Three weeks ago, I had a sugar binge. I ate a bunch of pasta(high carbs!), chased it down with some buttered white bread, and then had a good amoutn of ice cream. Suffice to say, I knew my blood sugar would be through the roof for 2-3 hours. Guilt got to me, and an hour later I pulled out my blood sugar tester and ran a test. My eyes bulged to see a "92" reading. I was afraid to say "I'm cured!" because it seemed too good to be true. So over the next two weeks I closely monitored my blood sugar. What I found was astounding. My blood sugar levels are near-normal. I'm a little unsure on exactly what "normal" is these days. But here's an example. I can eat a maple bar donut, and chase it down with a glass of milk. My blood sugar will go up to about 155. It drops down to below 120 within an hour, and to 85-91 shortly therafter.
This is amazing. I'm essentially cured. I believe my body is steal healing, and so I'll still be watching what I eat, but I know I can have a little sugar now. If I control my portions, I'll be fine. I think my body will get even better. I plan on losing more weight, (I'm still at about 194), and exercising more. This is very exciting!!! So the bottom line is, type two diabetes can be cured. I believe some type 2s are too far gone to fully recover, but I believe many people can be cured. As I found, it doesn't happen quickly. After I lsot weight, it took months, almost A YEAR for my body to heal itself. It all depends on your body. Your results may very. If your body has more healing to do, it will probably take longer. But it CAN be done.
I owe a lot to the diet plan, and to those who helped me along the way! If you're diabetic, and you want to talk to me about how I did it, by all means, talk to me! I'd love to hear from you! Take care!
